A former Broadway dancer, teacher and choreographer, Cal’s transition into fitness came as a result of dance-related injuries and subsequent rehabilitation through strength training, Pilates and Yoga.

Cal's producer/director credits include more than 300 video/DVD productions. Listed among them are the programs of fitness experts like Denise Austin, Kathy Smith, Leslie Sansone, Jennifer Kries, Tracey Mallet, and programs featuring the stars of television shows like Dancing With the Stars, The Biggest Loser and American Gladiators. In addition, he's credited for introducing the Pilates fitness system to video viewers with the best-selling The Method video series.
Still an active dancer/choreographer and writer, Cal’s continuing passion for dance and exercise are evident in a series of new 2008 releases. They include his design and writing of the exercise chapters of Dancing With the Stars – The Book (Harper Collins); and the design and authoring of Let’s Dance – A Beginner’s Guide to Ballroom Dancing ( Random House/Hatherleigh Press).
In addition, Cal’s production and choreographic talents are displayed
in the DVD production of Dirty Dancing – The Official Dance Workout,
featuring dance moves fashioned after the classic film and performed to some
of the movies most popular tracks (2008-Lionsgate Films)

Cal is a Certified Fitness Specialist. His fitness and video
career started as a best-selling fitness author: "Bunnetics" (Doubleday & Co), The Back Book (Arbor House), Twenty Days To A Trimmer Torso (Simon & Schuster). He's been the featured instructor of several fitness videos and of his own video dance series, Cal Pozo's Learn To Dance In Minutes (1989-Parade Video)
For his work Cal has received several awards including The HBO Spirit Award, The Parents Choice Award and several Consumer Digest Awards.
